Your Role Will Include:
‎As a Senior Java Engineer, you’ll design, build, and scale backend services that power our underwriting workbench. You’ll work closely with product and frontend teams, contribute to architectural decisions, improve CI/CD pipelines, and mentor engineers—helping ensure our platform remains reliable, scalable, and high-performing.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong experience building backend systems in Java
- ‎Hands-on expertise with Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA, and Hibernate
- ‎Experience with MySQL or other relational databases
- ‎Solid understanding of microservices architecture
- ‎Strong testing mindset (JUnit, Spock, Cucumber)
- ‎A proactive problem-solver who thrives in a remote-first, collaborative team
‎Bonus:
- ‎Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Apache Camel, or insurance-related platforms.

Senior Java Engineer Interview Process
Our recruitment process for the Senior Java Engineer role consists of at least four stages:

Stage 1 – Introductory Call with our in-house recruiter, Liam (30 minutes):
This will cover your background, motivations, and communication skills, along with an opportunity to learn more about Send and the role.
Stage 2 – Interview with Greg Hall, Head of Engineering, and another member of our engineering team (30 minutes).
Stage 3 – Technical Interview with two members of the engineering team (45 minutes – 1 hour):
This will focus on technical questions related to Java, web application development, Spring Boot, microservices, and relational databases.
Stage 4 – Interview with Dan Pass, CTO (30 minutes)
Final Stage – 30-minute Call with a Send Founder
